Adobe running slow or not opening

If you try to open a PDF and have Adobe become unresponsive you are more then likely having issue with something called SVCHost, a process that is built into Windows Operating System.

Determining SVCHost

To determine if you are suffering from SVChost issues follow these steps.

1.Open up task manager on your computer by pressing ctrl shift esc, similar to ctrl alt delete on login.

2.Once task manager is open select processes tab to view what your computer is working on.

3.Make sure that the box labeled "Show Processes for all users" is checked.

4. Once that box is checked sort your computer processes by memory use.

5. If top process is SVCHost.exe AND it is over 300,000 memory then your computer is running far slower then intended.

6. If you are suffering from SVCHost follow the steps below to fix. If you are not suffering from SVCHost issues but adobe is still not working or if you are unable to preform the fix below then Click Here to Submit a Ticket with the helpdesk explaining your problems

Fixing SCVHost

To fix the slowness related to SVCHost preform all the steps below in order.

1. Download the SVC.bat attachment found at the bottom of this solution page.

2. Once downloaded right click on the SVC.bat file and select "run as administrator".

3. A black box will appear and run the fix, the amount of time it needs varies from seconds to a few minutes, so be patient!

4. Once the file is done running the black box will disappear on it's own. You now need to restart your PC.

Note: Because of the slowdowns your computer might not restart and become stuck on a blue or black screen, in this instance manually power off the machine by holding down the power button until you hear the computer turn off. Turn the computer back on after a few seconds.

5. Once your computer is back up and running, login in as you normally would.

6.Find the SVC.bat file and right click and "run as administrator".

If preformed properly your computer should speed up considerably, any applications that were not working before should now function without issue. If there are any problems please submit a ticket with the help desk by clicking here, it's why we are here!
